Spanish Torrijas: A Perfect Dessert To Share With Your Friends

These french dessert originally consists of french toast that is topped off in a mix of milk, buttered eggs, sugar, orange and lemon skin, and cinnamon, which gives them a very special taste.
They can be made in many different ways, but my favorite recipe is the Spanish way to do it, so in this article, you will learn how to cook them that way. You must know that you will need at least half an hour and space enough in your fridge in order to do this recipe.
The ingredients you will need for cooking them are half a liter of milk, 250 ml of liquid cream, enough sugar, one cinnamon stick, one piece of orange and lemon skin, 8 sweet buns, 2 eggs, and butter.
First of all, you need to place all the milk, liquid cream, 110 g of sugar, cinnamon stick, and orange or lemon skin in a big vessel, and stir it for a minute. After that, you put the eggs on a bowl or plate and beat them, then put them in the vessel too with all the other ingredients and mix it again until you see it’s a homogeneous mix. Now put the sweet buns on a plate and take away the bark from the top and bottom of them carefully with a serrated knife, when you have finished with it sink them in the recipe until the buns don’t float anymore. Leave the buns inside the vessel, cover them with plastic, and put them inside the fridge for at least half an hour. When you are ready to cook take the vessel out of the fridge and prepare a plate with enough sugar, and another empty plate next to the sugar one. Proceed to take the sweet buns inside the vessel and roll them in the sugar plate, then put them in the empty one, you may even need to put more sugar on them until they are fully covered. After that, put some butter on a pan and proceed to fry the sweet buns until they get a caramelized look, be careful with the butter If you are doing many Torrijas because it may burn. Now you have some great Torrijas!
This dessert is easy to do but you may need some practice on it, especially with the sugar quantities while rolling the sweet buns, I recommend you to put a lot of sugar since otherwise they may break while frying them. The taste of these will delight you and you will probably start making them every week.
